Characterization of translatable neurophysiological biomarkers to enhance therapeutic development in Rett syndrome
EEG biomarkers of Rett syndrome
What is the purpose of the RETT study?
-
- The main goal of this study is to investigate and identify biomarkers that can be utilized in clinical trials and, at the same time, provide insight into abnormal neural activity in Rett syndrome (RTT). Children will be assessed periodically over a one-year period using electroencephalography (EEG), caregiver questionnaires, and clinical interviews.
What is involved?
-
- Participants will be assessed at CHLA at quarterly or annual intervals, including EEG, caregiver questionnaires, and clinical interviews. Participants and their families will receive $50 compensation for each completed visit.
Who can participate?
- Females 1-18 years old with a clinical diagnosis of RTT with a likely pathogenic or known pathogenic variant in MECP2
- Typically developing (TD) females 1-18 years old with no developmental or cognitive concerns
